In North Wales Slalom, its not just the kids taking part. Parents can play an active role in the running of training camps and mid-week sessions, and in-house training is available to parents
There are many roles which parents are actively encouraged to take part in, such as; bankside safety (in-house training given), helping out coaches (e.g. timing, video filming, judging, course setting) and more.
We also have parents with suitable experience providing on the water safety.
Slalom fosters new skills that can be taken in to all areas of life. For example, by partaking in a competitive sport such as slalom, or engaging in a club such as ours, paddlers can develop:

-Time management skills
-Competition and good sportsmanship
-Working well under and handling pressure

-Overcoming fear and mental barriers

Being involved with canoe slalom can open up a whole host of pathways, beyond just paddling a boat. Life skills, water safety and knowledge of the paddling community grows while doing slalom, which has enabled multiple paddlers previously on the program to go on and do what they love.
